Racing has arrived

Brad and I are headed down the 10 towards Houston Texas. We are in Mississippi, and we are making a pit stop in Baton Rouge Louisiana to see my friend Stacey Laird. I havent seen Stacey since the Indy race where Steve crashed. I saw Harold in Dallas in October but Stacey didnt make it that weekend, and I have not seen their daughter Maddie since Indy and she was about to turn 1 and now shes turned 2. I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends in the racing community. I am so excited to see all my ADRL friends this weekend, I saw all my NHRA friends last weekend.

This morning we checked out of our hotel in Mobile Alabama, and started riding down the road I flopped my mirror down to put some make up on and there was a big old hairy spider building a nest on my mirror. well for those of you who don't know my boyfriend hates spiders more than any thing in the world. So I said spider and he pulled over on the shoulder to kill the spider well it turned into a ordeal and he wouldn't get back in the car until the spider died. So Brad gets out the Ice scraper and hits the spider knocking it down and into my purse. That wasn't gonna work for me so we had to dump the contents of my purse out until we found the spider.

Now remember this is all happening on the shoulder of the freeway with semi trucks flying by us at 75 MPH I thought for sure we were gonna get blasted. but thank you God we were ok the spider was in my purse and he got it with the ice scraper. This was our adventure for the day. We are rolling down the freeway I will post updates all weekend. Happy racing!!!

random thoughts and other stuff

I cannot tell you how depressed I am during the winter, I find it hard to get excited about anything. I hate cold weather, my ankle has been killing me when its cold. I miss my friends, people that dont love racing do not understand the draw of going to the track, but since I moved to SC 5years and 3 months ago drag racing has been the thing that Brad and I do on weekends. So when you go 3 months without it....It sucks.

Lots of changes this year and Im interested to see how its all gonna shake out. Jason Scruggs went3.64 @210 testing. Now I am friends with many teams in ADRL, but let me say that the Scruggs crew are absolutely my favorite guys to hang out with. These guys are humble, and even though they have been the guys to beat, they dont act it, and you just gotta admire that. They are just a really good group of guys. and I am tickled to see Jason able to still set the world on fire.

In the NHRA series the field has been set, and its a tough field of some good racers, but NHRA set a system of grade points and then did not stick to it. Guys that had no points were allowed to register before their time. While guys who wanted to get in and had points didnt get to register. I am really disappointed in the way this happened, Im not begrudging anyone their spot, but I think NHRA didnt exactly play fair.

As far as me well I am still following Brad, because going to the track with him is more fun for me than going to the track without him. I have this sign in my kitchen that sums up our relationship. it says "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." I Love my Bradley, and I owe this passion for drag racing all to him. Life is good......

In a few days I will celebrate 15 years of Sobriety. Yes I am a recovering alcoholic, yes I take it seriously, I am not the person I was 15 years ago. Thank God for that!!!
